GIT plans to recruit channel partners across the GCC to boost its exports and indirect sales as the company sees its profits soar. Toner cartridge maker German Imaging Technologies Dubai (GIT) already supplies 1,200 corporate customers and government institutions across the continents of Africa, Asia, America, Australasia and Europe. While the vendor does sell through the channel, 80% of its revenues are generated through direct sales, and GIT plans to increase channel partner numbers as it looks to strengthen its export business and indirect sales “Even though we have been primarily focussed on direct sales in the first years, we want to get more channel partners onboard,” said Sassan Dieter Khatib-Shahidi, managing director at GIT. “Currently we are on a selection process evaluating distributors and resellers for Abu Dhabi, as well as for the neighbouring GCC countries.” GIT recently launched a channel recruitment drive and signed up Dubai-based Computer Depot to distribute and resell products. The toner cartridge maker sees further potential in channel sales and exports, which make up only 20% of its revenues. GIT reported a 47% profit increase over the first six months of 2004 compared to the previous year. GIT has seen profits rise across its whole range of products, including stationery items, computer accessories, peripherals, printer servicing, and gt-branded toner cartridges — the company’s core business. GIT puts the exceptional growth down to its increasing market profile and the overall positive performance of the UAE’s economy. “The excellent economic conditions in Dubai and the UAE have contributed to GIT Dubai’s growth rate and we are targeting a growth rate of 100% per annum for the years 2004 to 2006,” added Khatib-Shahidi. “After a presence of five years in the market, companies already know about gt-branded toner cartridges.”
