Multi Sell Technology Middle East, the regional arm of the German company is all set to launch its Multi Point commercial gesture recognition systems. The products claim to replace the mouse, keyboard and even the touch-screen. Users can control applications just by using body gestures without physically touching the screen or any device from a distance of up to 500 metres. The technology behind it is video stereoscopy and advanced micro cameras, which position and translate gestures from the hand or finger into mouse-action or specialised applications with no mechanical interface whatsoever. Using Multi Point, the user can be positioned directly in front of the screen or from a far distance. The algorithms and video-cameras of the system are very precise in reading body gestures and have been tested to work up to 500 metres from a large format screen. “The system is ideal for point of information, point of sale or even for special application within the professional sectors,” says Mohamed El Omari, vice president sales & marketing for Multi Sell Technology Middle East. Typical applications include the retail sector for product promotion, corporate presentations and the educational sector. Any screen can be made interactive. Such as holographic projections screen, plasma screen and LCD. Apart from not having to touch anything, Multi Sell claims its products offer flexibility in regards to distance to the screen and can be programmed into any customised gesture. “The products are applicable for training environment, corporate presentations enabling the speaker full interactivity with the content and the audience using hand gestures. Other advantages are low cost of ownership and a next to maintenance-free system,” adds David Holm-Glad, managing director for Multi Sell Technology Middle East. It has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Lebanese company Software Design Consulting Group (SDCG) for sharing sales and marketing resources to promote the products in the region. Other Multi Sell products include Impulse, a new technology for SMS/MMS enabled interactive screens. Targeted at nightclubs, concerts, pubs and bar venues it enables clubbers to instantly interact with each other by sending text messages from their mobile phones to a giant screen in noisy and crowded environments. The vendor is gearing up to kick off road shows starting with Dubai and spreading across to the Middle East in the coming weeks. Multi Sell’s road show will start in the conference centre of the Dubai Airport Free Zone and move to Abu Dhabi next month.
