Building DFC zone 8: retail space on three levels

Construction of the 180 000 m2 multilevel retail, entertainment and hospitality centre at Dubai Festival City, is now well underway. Dewatering work was completed earlier this year by Al Futtaim Carillion. Swiss Boring were awarded the contract for the piling in late March and began work in mid-April. This involves drilling 2915 piles, of which 990 are 600 mm tension piles to anchor the structure, a further 1300 are 1200 mm piles, and 625 will be 900 mm piles.The average pile depth is 22 m. Once complete, Zone 8 will be the central retail attraction of Dubai Festival City 135 000 m2 of retail space on three levels. Other components of the development are also well advanced. The first phase of property at the Al Badia Golf Resort is ready for tenants to move into next week.
