Palm One set to launch Treo 600

Palm One is set to launch the Treo 600 smart phone on 23rd July in the Middle East at selected retail outlets. The US$699 integrated smart phone combines the best of a full-featured mobile phone and the Palm handheld.

Palm One is set to launch the Treo 600 smart phone on 23rd July in the Middle East at selected retail outlets. The US$699 integrated smart phone combines a full-featured mobile phone and Palm OS handheld with wireless communication applications, such as e-mail, messaging, web browsing and even sports a digital camera. To promote the launch, the vendor is giving away free Visor Edge handhelds for the first 300 customers. “Palm One is delighted to be delivering this world-class smart phone to customers across the Middle East. The Palm One Treo 600 smart phone represents a breakthrough in the design and functionality of a smart phone device, offering advanced technological functionalities in a compact form factor,” says Stuart Maughan, Palm One Middle East branch manager. Available in the U.A.E, in Dubai Duty Free, and branches of Jumbo, Carrefour, Plug-Ins, Axiom, Jacky’s Jarir Bookstore, Compume and all leading mobile phone outlets. The Treo 600 offers quad-band services (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) allowing customers to make and receive calls and use data services on GSM/GPRS networks worldwide. It operates on the Palm OS 5.2 operating system, which is bundled with a calendar, contact list, to-do list and memo pad. The integrated QWERTY keyboard is offers data input and the five-way navigation button makes accessing information simple. The Treo 600 smart phone supports attachment handling, including access to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel compatible documents. Customers can also send and receive text messages besides see the “chain” of previous text content, similar to instant messaging. An integrated VGA camera works with Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) to allow customers to send/receive images, annotate messages and add system sounds such as ringtones to their notes. The Treo smart phone includes MP3 playback functionality.
