LaserBit recruits Almasa Network Solutions

Wireless communications kit vendor LaserBit has struck a Middle East distribution deal with Almasa Network Solutions. Hailing from Hungary, LaserBit’s Middle East move is part of a sustained effort to build worldwide channels-to-market.

Wireless communications kit vendor LaserBit has struck a Middle East distribution deal with Almasa Network Solutions. Hailing from Hungary, LaserBit’s Middle East move is part of a sustained effort to build worldwide channels-to-market. Almasa Network Solutions — a value-adding distribution unit in the wider Almasa group — will distribute the full range of free space optics (FSO) solutions in LaserBit’s product portfolio. “LaserBit’s FSO products complement the portfolio of products that we carry,” said D.K. Roy, divisional manager at Almasa Network Solution. “The FSO solutions give a lot of flexibility to the customer and this fits into an end-to-end solution offering.” Almasa Networking Solutions’ value-add offerings for vendor partners includes technical design and consultation services, proof-of-concept lab facilities, pre-sales technical support, post-sales implementation services as well as certified engineers to support second-tier resell partners. Its vendor portfolio includes 3Com, Blue Coat, Edimax, Exinda Networks, Mitel and NetScreen. “We know that seeing is believing with this product. Once a reseller spends a maximum of two hours in our hands-on training sessions they then find this one of the easiest solutions to install and sell. In addition they earn good margins and the end-user benefits from a quick return on investment on their purchase,” said Nicola Mendoza-Wilson, global marketing director for LaserBit. Going forward, LaserBit will run several joint marketing programs with Almasa in order to promote its products both to their resellers and end users. “We are very pleased to be working with Almasa, a company which excels in the value added distribution of network solutions. We believe their current product range complements LaserBit’s technology and are confident the partnership will bring LaserBit’s innovative solutions to many new customers,” says E. Walter Koenig III, LaserBit’s president and CEO. LaserBit uses laser-based wireless technology to offer broadband point-to-point connectivity with solutions targeted at a wide range of vertical markets including ISPs, healthcare, education, finance, retail and industry. Founded in 1999, LaserBit has so far received three rounds of investment funding including a US$7m injection in June 2003. Previous investors include Intel Capital and Sandler Capital.
