Thermo pockets Dhs145 million JBR Lot 3 MEP works

Contract calls for MEP work on seven of 17 to 52 floors at Jumeirah Beach Residence

Thermo LLC has been awarded the contract for the complete mechanical and electrical services of Jumeirah Beach Residence project’s Package 3. The contract is valued Dhs145 million. The contracts for the overall development have been awarded in six separate packages by developer, Estithmaar Realty. It has awarded Package 3 (and Package 1) to Arab Technical Construction Company (Arabtec). Package 3 requires the development of seven towers ranging from 17 to 52 floors, covering a total area of 321 471 m2. It is for this package that Thermo has been selected by Arabtec to provide the complete mechanical and electrical services. Thermo’s scope of works encompasses the entire HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage and fire fighting, BMS and control systems. The towers that are part of the scope of works for Thermo are: Tower C 09-TO 1, which is a 34-floor building and covers 28009 m2; Tower C 06-TO 1.1, a 31-floor building with 29 922 m2; Tower C O6-TO 1.2, a 17-storey tower covering 13 369 m2; Tower C O2-TO 1, a 48-floor building over a 40 234 m2 area; Tower C O9-TO 3, a 49-storey building covering 71 343 m2; Tower C O9-TO 2 is the highest tower in the package with 52-floors and spread over 67 251 m2 and Tower C O6-TO 3 is also a 49-floor building over a 71 343 m2 area. The towers are fed by district cooling system with a total cooling load of 9500 tonnes and an electrical connected load of 33 MW. Having worked on several fast-track projects, Thermo says that its in-house systems are geared towards modern day construction methods with strict adherence to ISO 9001:2000 quality and complete safety procedures. The 24-month contract started on the 31st March. “When complete, Jumeirah Beach Residence will showcase Dubai’s success in becoming a world-class property, attracting investors from all over the world. Estithmaar Realty has appointed Arabtec as contractor for Package 1 & 3; Saleh Construction for Package 2; Al Habtoor Engineering for Package 4; Al Shafar General Contracting Company for Package 6 and Dubai Civil Engineering for Package 7. The announcement of the contractor for Package 5 is expected any time now from Estithmaar. Occupying approximately 1.7 km of the last beachfront property this side of Jebel Ali within the city of Dubai, the Dhs5.2 billion Jumeirah Beach Residence is one of the largest on-going developments in the emirate and offers freehold property to UAE citizens and foreigners. It will comprise 36 residential towers and four hotel towers.
