Univadis has unveiled a medical information and services resource exclusively for the UAE physicians’ community. The www.univadis.md portal was recently launched simultaneously in the UAE, London, New York and Hong Kong. Univadis.md offers knowledge management applications content for UAE physicians and time-saving resources, as well as content covering hobbies and personal interests. The portal also contains up-to-date regional news on medical developments — the site itself is also a breakthrough because it's the first physicians’ site to offer localised content. “It’s a welcome break to have a single medical portal that can provide us most information we need in our daily medical practices versus the numerous independent sites all over the net,” says Dr. Jamal Jammal, internist from Dubai Physiotherapy Clinic. In a recent study commissioned by Healthcare Self Development Network (HSDN) — a workgroup that promotes internet usage among UAE doctors — it showed that nine out of ten UAE physicians rate the internet as an “extremely positive” tool for receiving continuous education programmes and that it has become the main source of medical information for daily practice. Univadis.md has partnered with Reuters and Science Press to ensure accuracy and credibility of its content. In addition, the site can offer Continued Medical Education (CME) credits to doctors, plus e-case studies and e-forums. The portal hopes to encourage a sense of community where physicians can come together and interact.
