Xantic has been selected by Inmarsat as a launch distribution partner for the satellite operator’s upcoming broadband global area network (BGAN). The move furthers Xantic’s plan to develop a range of value added services for the 432Kbits/s platform, due for launch in 2005. The service provider has already secured a contract from Inmarsat to host BGAN at its Land Earth Station in Burum, the Netherlands. Additionally, Xantic plans to use the point of presence (PoP) it has built for Inmarsat’s current Regional BGAN service for BGAN, when the platform goes online. The service provider’s infrastructure lies between the Inmarsat network and the internet. Its value added services currently include cost control, firewall management, traffic information, pre-paid facilities, security options, VPN access, messaging and IP.
