Traders Hotel, Dubai, the first Traders in the Middle East, has opened its doors to guests. The 250-room four star property is managed by Shangri-La International Hotels & Resorts, which owns the chain, and it is targeted at the mid-market. "Our main market is business travellers and of course the meetings segment. However we also expect to attract a share of the leisure market particularly when Dubai plays host to festivals and events,” comments the hotel’s general manager, Wolf Dieter Flecker. In preparation for the opening, the hotel and its 240 staff have gone through an extended run in phases including a number of simulations "Over the past months, our team made up of 25 different nationalities, many of whom it is their first time away from their home country, have demonstrated a strong commitment to the hotel and each other. Speaking on behalf of the entire team, I can only say that we are delighted to have finally opened our doors for business,” says Flecker. The hotel, which is owned by Oman’s Zubair Corporation, is located in Deira not far from the Clock Tower roundabout. The property was designed by the Architectural firm Badri & Bensouda with interiors done by Julia Dempster of Interior Motives. Among the key features of the property are multi cuisine dining ‘concept’ called The Junction and the Chameleon Bar, a bar offering nightly live entertainment. Traders Dubai also boasts broadband internet access in all guest rooms, as well as interactive TV, IDD telephones with voice mail, electronic in-room lockers, private mini-bars, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities. On the Traders Club executive floors, there are further amenities, including a private lounge, express check-in and checkout services, complimentary breakfast and purser services. "In a city where the focus has been on five star luxury properties for some time, we are confident that the Traders brand will be well received. The Traders brand, particularly our new Dubai hotel, offers a vibrant and affordable hotel solution and we aim to be recognised as a hotel which provides everything a savvy traveller could desire, with sincere service from the heart,” concludes Flecker.
