Taiwan-based VGA manufacturer GeCube is in talks to sign up in-country distributors in ten countries across the Middle East. GeCube previously had an exclusive Middle East distribution agreement with Dubai-based Golden Systems — exclusive distributor for GeCube’s parent company Gigabyte. “In the past all A-brand graphics card vendors signed a distributor in Dubai, but we will go directly into the country without signing any distributor in Dubai,” said David Peng, President and CEO, GeCube. “Going in-country means that prices will not be as high [as through Dubai] because one tier has been erased and we will be more aggressive compared with existing brands in that market. This strategy will solve grey market problems because the product will not go here and there through Dubai to harm the margin structure in other countries.” GeCube, which currently ships 40,000 per month to the Middle East, wants to capture half of the region’s graphics card market — estimated to be around 160,000 units per month. GeCube plans to offer strong technical support, rapid RMA service and run a customer awareness campaign in major markets
