Computer Castle, exclusive distributor for NEC in Saudi Arabia, picked up a top performing partner award from the PC and notebook vendor after raking in NEC sales of US$3.4m in 2003 — 15% above its set target. Computer Castle, which also operates 15 retail outlets across the Kingdom, now plans to expand the NEC product lines it carries and continue the rollout of dedicated NEC sales sections in its shops. NEC-branded PDAs and MP3 players will hit the Saudi market in the next couple of months. Combining its roles as exclusive distributor and retail chain, Computer Castle also plans to extend the scope of NEC’s reseller channel in the Kingdom. Hamed El Ashgar, sales manager at Computer Castle, said: “NEC is a relatively new player in the Middle East market and after working hard on building up its brand during the past few years, we are ready to work on the distribution channel.” “NEC understands the market and when you talk to them they listen, unlike other suppliers who constantly ignore us,” added El Ashgar. “If a competitor offers lower prices then NEC takes immediate action to make their prices competitive.”
