Al Ekhbaria channel, Saudi Arabia’s first dedicated news channel, will be using broadcast equipment from Pinnacle Systems for its networked broadcast installation. Al Ekhbaria’s deal with Pinnacle follows a three-year successful relationship with parent company, Saudi TV, which also recently furnished three of its OB vans with the Pinnacle PDS9000i, the ThunderLT, and the Deko1000. "Our long-standing relation with Pinnacle is based on our confidence that it understands our business needs and delivers cost-effective networked solutions," says Dr. Riyadh Najm, chief engineer at Saudi TV. "Pinnacle’s products are used throughout Saudi TV and it was our choice as we embarked on the Al Ekhbaria venture." Al Ekhbaria, which was launched in January this year and broadcasts news 14 hours a day, seven days a week, has deployed Pinnacle's Thunder XL servers, FXDeko II character generators, DVEXCEL DVEs, and Liquid blue & Liquid Edition digital video editors. Central to Al Ekhbaria’s installation are the two Pinnacle Thunder XL expandable servers with a full range of clip and still stores, mixers, DVEs and RAID storage, ideal for studio control and playback in a demanding live environment. In addition, the station has four Liquid Edition NLE systems, which include thousands of real-time effects, colour correction, dynamic slow motion and timeline-based DVD authoring. Al Ekhbaria also uses Pinnacle's Liquid blue craft editing solution for comprehensive native digital production in all formats, and DVEXCEL, the first 16-bit frame-based DVE with up to four channels, 12 DVE layers and 4:4:4:4 processing. To complement this, Pinnacle's flagship FXDeko II character generators allow operators to independently move text, graphics and textures through 3D space in real time for advanced live-production character generation.
