Al Shamil, part of Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM), is offering UAE users the chance to speed up their surfing for less with its new broadband promotion. Users that sign up for Al Shamil’s 256k and 512k DSL, cable or Wireless-IWAN broadband packages before July 14 will receive free installation (usually 200Dhs) and half price monthly charges for the first three months of their contract (excluding the purchase of an ADSL model in the first month, costing 275Dhs). This means that users opting for the slowest 256k DSL or cable broadband package for example, would pay 370Dhs the first month (including the modem purchase price), 95Dhs for the following two months and the standard Al Shamil monthly charge of 190Dhs thereafter. This half-price figure of 95Dhs cost compares to 125Dhs for the 512k package and 150Dhs for the same 512k wireless version. Al Shamil's DSL and cable packages offer the same speed access but differ in terms of the users they support. The firm's DSL service is aimed purely at Windows users while Mac users and others are provided for by Al Shamil's cable packages. Al Shamil’s new promotion also bundles 75% off the price of LearnOnline courses during the promotional period and applies to both existing and new Al Shamil subscribers. E-learning portal LearnOnline, online at www.learnonline.ae, recently added 200 new courses, bringing the total number of courses it offers to over 1,000.
