Planned for 22 to 24 November 2004 at Bahrain’s Monetary Agency Centre, the Middle East Financial Technology Exhibition and Conference (MEFTEC) is the region’s first tradeshow focused on the financial services IT marketplace and targetting related vendors and end-users. The event reflects the strong growth in the financial services sector across the GCC and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and subsequent increases in finance IT investments and spending, which totalled US$1 billion in 2003 – or approximately 12.5 percent of total regional IT spending. Aimed at senior to middle-level executives and IT budget holders from banking and insurance institutions, the event will cover a range of solutions, from retail banking systems to Islamic banking applications; business continuity solutions to IT security systems; CRM to e-banking; anti-money laundering to Basel II; ATMs to payment cards; and wireless technologies to specialised solutions for the insurance and securities sector. The event hopes to attract around 85 speakers and 350 delegates from the industry. The event’s main sponsors are Microsoft, ATOS Origin, Temenos, i-flex Solutions and Batelco.
