Radisson SAS Riyadh is nearing the end of an SR65 million revamp aimed at turning the hotel into one of the city’s hottest venues. The lobby area of the 317 room hotel has been completely redesigned in black marble and stainless steel mesh. Andalusian, Italian and Scandinavian styles have also been incorporated into the various room designs. “Part of the renovation… is already complete and is open to the public,” says Maarten van den Nieuwenhuysen, general manager, Radisson SAS Hotel, Riyadh and district manager, Saudi Arabia. “While we have undertaken to refurbish this hotel, and do away with the bland façade associated with the traditional look, our core values and concepts will continue to provide value added services to all our clients, whether they are business or leisure travellers.” said Nieuwenhuysen. Other innovations include the addition of a dedicated ladies café and the development of six ‘state of the art’ meeting rooms fitted with Scandinavian wooden panels. “Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest growing markets for Radisson SAS and the current extensive renovations will give the hotel a fresh new look with added amenities that will be a positive addition to the hospitality industry in Saudi Arabia,” enthuses Nieuwenhuysen. There are 13 Radisson SAS hotels in the Middle East and Rezidor SAS Hospitality, owner of the Radisson SAS brand, plans to open two Cerruti designer hotels in the near future.
