UAE based storage distributor StorIT Distribution is implementing ambitious plans to expand its sales network throughout the Gulf and the wider region by opening up offices in several locations. While the distributor established a presence in Qatar early this year and is in the process of opening an office in Bahrain during the summer, StorIT has additional plans to base sales teams in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the Levant by next year. “We have opened sales offices in various countries and are planning to open even more,” says Sudhakar Suryanarayan, business development manager at StorIT. “Bahrain is emerging due to its prominence as a financial hub, and our office will open there this August. Qatar is also booming, prompting us to open a new office there this March. The Gulf is an up-and-coming market and Kuwait is next in line for a StorIT presence, followed by Saudi and the Levant. These are huge markets and we are waiting to establish a physical presence, as the potential is massive.” StorIT believes that there is a huge growth potential in the storage sector, particularly with the rise of small to medium sized businesses in the region. The distributor sees increasing potential in the market as attitudes change towards storage and customers move away from a hardware oriented approach towards a service-centric mentality. “If you look at the Middle East, we find the enterprise market has so many players, but the SMB segment is now opening up,” adds Suryanarayan. “SMBs are slowing realizing that they can’t stick to the servers, that this will not meet their increasing storage needs and business is shifting from hardware to services. It is a very good opportunity for us, because many of our resellers are targeting SMBs.”
