Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) has recruited Gulf Business Machines (GBM) to develop its knowledge portal. The Qatari consulting and professional services firm will use the new website to encourage and attract regional and international investors to co-operate and co-ordinate industrial development among the six GCC member countries. “GOIC is a major player in gathering, analysing and publishing industrial data relevant to the region. The development of the portal will enable governmental and industrial customers to access our high-quality, integrated and focused research, information and consultancy services relating to economic and industrial development in the region,” says Mohammed Ali Almosalem, secretary general of the GOIC. The portal will be built using IBM’s WebSphere suite of products. When live, it will provide online databases, statistics, indicators, reports, news bulletins, customised information services, investment opportunity services and information analysis. “The portal will not only provide easy access to GOIC’s information but it will also allow us to transform raw data into information,” says Eid Al Dehani, assistant secretary general at GOIC. “By harnessing technology, GOIC will be able to use the internet as a marketing channel to expand our customer base to international markets,” he adds.
