As part of its efforts to digitise its production and transmission facilities, Bahrain TV recently invested in several broadcast solutions. Most of these solutions were acquired and installed in time to broadcast the famed Formula One race, which was held earlier this month in the country. As part of this installation, BTV also deployed two Deko 1000 broadcast character generators from Pinnacle Systems. The units were installed at BTV's master control room at Sakhir circuit in Bahrain and were used for the creation of graphics content for the Grand Prix. “The decision by Bahrain TV to upgrade from analogue to digital is consistent with the overall regional trend to digitise workflow infrastructures," Said Bacho, managing director, Middle East, Pinnacle Systems said. ”This is fast making the Middle East one of the most technically advanced broadcast markets worldwide,” he added. The Deko 1000s, used in a mirrored configuration, are fully loaded with a fast action keyboard, sportsware, and automation options. Pinnacle claims that this solution has been specifically designed to cope with a high pressure sports-coverage environment. The deal was won in partnership with Pinnacle's dealer in Bahrain, Computer Point. "We've worked with Bahrain TV for over ten years advising them on the best technology solutions to meet their needs,” says Mahmood Al-Yousif, managing director, Computer Point. “In this instance, they required a robust graphics solution that would maximise the impact of the footage from the race. When we demonstrated the Deko 1000, Bahrain TV was extremely impressed with its quality, flexibility, reliability, and the breadth of the live graphics technologies which the system incorporates."
