Carrier to Carrier Telecom provides internet, voice, data, VPN and broadcasting services to corporates, PTTs, BSM operators and ISPs. And, for the Dutch firm, this week’s ITU event in Cairo is essential as it explores new markets, makes contact with potential customers and signs up some big deals. Carrier to Carrier specialises in emerging markets all over the globe, and as such it is heavily focused on the MEA market. In fact, the firm also participated in the ITU event in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2001. “Most of our antennas are pointed at the Africa and Middle East region, since most of our customers are based in this region,” says Pier du Plessiss, sales director of Carrier to Carrier Telecom. “We expect to get in contact with people and organisations that are looking for an alternative communication solution provider at this week’s show,” he adds. The company claims to take a distinct approach in that it designs and commissions customer-specific networks over a broad range of technologies. “The result is that we are always at the cutting edge of technology development,” says Plessis. “Our teleport services are backed up by well-established third party services like carriers and internet access providers. Our terrestrial backhaul rings to Amsterdam run on SDH technology at STM1 level,” he explains.
