Sony Business produced an on-site broadcast solution for host broadcaster Bahrain TV to monitor, record and provide post production facilities for the Bahrain Formula 1 Motor Racing event. The solution was deployed within four weeks. All the equipment and materials for the event were pre-assembled and incorporated into ‘fly-away’ flight cases, enabling a faster and more efficient on site integration phase. “This project was a real challenge not in terms of complexity or size but in terms of timescale,” comments Karl Hijazi, manager, professional Services, Sony Business MEA. “We had to have the system commissioned and operational on site within four weeks of receiving the order.” The system also underlines the use of the Sony MPEG IMX recording format (MPEG 4:2:2P@ML at 50Mb/s) as 6 x MSW-M2000P were included in the system. These VTRs record audio, video, time code and metadata on tape, and can be fitted with e-VTR plug-in boards to provide MXF file-based operation. Signals can be output as either ordinary SDI/Composite or, when the e-VTR option is fitted, as MXF files over IP/Ethernet. Other components included Digital Betacam VTRs, LCD and CRT monitoring, DFS-700AP production switcher, A/V Routing and monitoring, 24 channel Graham Patten Digital Audio Mixer and Tektronix TSG/WFM.
