Tech Access, Sun Microsystems’ channel development provider in the Middle East, announced today that it has expanded its operations, opening a new regional office in Cairo, Egypt, in a move to capitalise on the prospective North African information technology market. The office is a new addition to the vendor's office openings in Morocco and Saudi Arabia earlier this year. Tech Access, which is Sun Microsystems’ Datacenter Channels Development Provider in the GCC, Levant, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and North Africa regions said Egypt had a huge potential growth market for IT, as investment increases in the oil, gas and telecommunication sectors. “Sun is delighted to be working with Tech Access and our channel partners in Egypt to provide both hardware and software solutions to leading companies in the country and surrounding territories,” says Amar Wadjih, regional manager, Sun Microsystems, Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Tech Access will support Sun partners in critical service areas, including pre-sales technical support, training, marketing, and continued technical assistance. The new office will also generate regional leads and support its network of local partners in Egypt said the vendor. “The opening of our office in Cairo will enable Tech Access to help Sun’s partners take advantage of the boom in IT spending currently underway in the region,” says Tarek Hindi, general manager, Tech Access, Egypt. As well as serving surrounding territories, the Cairo office will make available solutions testing at the iForce center in Dubai. Current Sun Microsystems’ partners in Egypt include ProMise Services, ProSyLab Information and Communications Systems and Raya Integration, part of Egypt’s Raya Group. “The new Cairo office increases Sun’s visibility in the local market, and provides valuable support to resellers in the country. Maintaining a local office is crucial in expanding that support,” adds Tech Access managing director, Shomail Ghalib.
