Veritas Middle East, announced today that Muscat Municipality has implemented its NetBackup solution to ensure that its vast stores of information are secure from unplanned downtime whilst remaining highly available its employees and customers. “Muscat Municipality had a number of key requirements when seeking data protection software, including ‘single instance store’ to prevent duplication of storage for the same files or applications, non-intrusive backups to preserve efficiency, and a solution that enables a lower overall cost of ownership,” says Sam Tayan, regional manager, Veritas Middle East. As one of the largest organisations in Oman, Muscat Municipality has more than 4,000 employees working from either its head office in Muscat or at its five regional offices situated around the country. “Being responsible for everything from the construction of roads and the maintenance of buildings, to providing health services and processing housing applications means that Muscat Municipality generates a vast amount of critical data every day,” says Yaqoob Dur Mohammed Al Bulushi, director general and supervisor of information systems at the Muscat Municipality. The Muscat Muncipality, which provides civic and othber administrative services to consumers and businesses said after the storage implementation, it could now back-up almost double the volume of information in about half the time it previously required for this process.
