U.S. Robotics is hoping to attract more gaming customers with the release of its Wireless Gaming Adapter and Ethernet Bridge. "Online gamers will no longer be confined by the accessibility of an Ethernet connection, because the adapter eliminates the wiring hassle and provides gamers with the flexibility of playing live from any room in the house," said Yusuf Syed, regional manager, US Robotics Middle East and North Africa. The firm's new USR 5430 model will be available across the region from next month. It plugs into a PlayStation 2, Xbox or any other Ethernet enabled gaming console and automatically finds and connects to the nearest access point, enabling gamers the freedom to wirelessly play anyone, anywhere over their ADSL internet connection. This plug-and-play functionality also applies when the USR 5430 is used with any Ethernet equipped device, such as a digital video recorder, internet appliance, Linux computer and so on. The USR5430 Wireless Gaming Adapter features a swivel dipole antenna to maximise range and throughput, and accelerator technology that U.S. Robotics claims delivers up to 25% better performance than standard 802.11g.
