The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Bahrain, has signed a US $15.6 million construction contract for its 15-storey extension, between the hotel’s owners, Bahrain’s National Hotels Company BSC and Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), an Indian construction and engineering giant. It is expected to be complete by the end of 2005 and the deal marks L & T’s entry into Bahrain. Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Zayani, chairman of the board of directors of the NHC said that, the signing of the agreement will be a turning point in the history of Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, conceived by Al Zayani himself 30 years ago. ”Larsen and Toubro was chosen because of its excellent reputation in this specialised segment, and because of its involvement in this most prestigious project, it will undoubtedly win other business in Bahrain,” said Al Zayani. NHC has also announced net profits of over $3 million for 2003. The recent annual general meeting of the company approved a dividend payment of %8 of the shared capital of the company.
