Printer and peripherals vendor Epson has deepened its channel relationship with Jumbo by appointing the distributor as an authorized distributor and service provider in the UAE. Epson has also awarded Jumbo an Outstanding Achievement award in recognition of its business results for Epson product lines across the Middle East in 2003. Epson had been using SMB Computers as a distribution partner in the UAE. With SMB Computers currently closed down while Dubai authorities investigate the distributor’s activities, Jumbo’s appointment is a timely move. Highlighting Jumbo’s strengths, Khalil El–Dalu, General Manager Epson Middle East, said, “The twin recognition comes due to Jumbo’s active engagement with channel partners, logistics capability and sustained marketing acumen. We are confident that our market share will continue to grow through Jumbo’s concerted efforts in building awareness for new segments such as photo printing and multifunction devices.” Arvind Agrawal, general manager IT group at Jumbo Electronics, added: “This new alliance will enable Epson to leverage our comprehensive service setup and special value adds for our consumers such as free insurance, easy installment scheme, delivery and installation option and genuine world class post-sales service.” The distribution and service agreement signed covers Epson’s complete range of printers, multi function devices, digital Cameras, scanners and consumables. Jumbo Electronics has service centers in all the seven Emirates and is the only IT company to offer this facility. This appointment will provide valuable continuity of service to Epson customers and resellers previously buying from SMB Computers. Jumbo’s existing UAE distribution and services infrastructure should allow it to quickly fill the gap left by SMB Computers.
