The 170-room boutique hotel at the Dubai Festival City will be managed by Hyatt International and branded as a Park Hyatt hotel. Though Hyatt International or the Al Futtaim Group, the developers of the Festival City, have not yet made a formal announcement, a hotel official told Hotelier Middle East the management contract will be signed shortly. The boutique hotel brand from the Hyatt International group, Park Hyatt’s are custom built and designed by internationally acclaimed architects, designers and artists. There are no Park Hyatt hotels in the Middle East as yet, but Hyatt International has announced plans to open one in Cairo in 2005. The Park Hyatt in Dubai will be built around the Al Badia golf course that is due to open later this year. This is part of the first phase of the Festival City development that will have three hotels and more than 1000 hotel rooms and includes a 500-room conference hotel to be managed by the InterContinental Hotels group. “The Middle East has been an obvious and exciting expansion region for Hyatt International. As the region continues to gain influence on world cultural, economic, and political affairs, the people who live in and visit this part of the world are increasingly gravitating toward luxury brands,” said John Wallis, senior vice president of marketing for Hyatt International.
