Epson has expanded the functionality of its latest multifunction device (MFD) in a bid to increase its share of the region’s home and small business MFD markets. In what has been a prolific few weeks of product launches for the company, Epson has unveiled the Stylus CX6400, which combines print, scan and copy functionality and is the first Epson MFD to feature built-in digital media card slots. Targeted at home and small office users across the Middle East, Epson claims the CX6400 offers colour copying, high-resolution scanning and high quality, border-free print output on plain or even recycled paper. "There is a growing demand among consumers in the Middle East for high-performance cost-efficient digital solutions for personal or small office use," said Khalil El-Dalu, general manager, Epson Middle East. "The Stylus CX6400 is a powerful multi-functional device that suits the needs of consumers in the region who run small businesses or work from home and need to print, scan or copy image-heavy reports and presentations. We also anticipate significant interest from the growing number of SMEs in the region’s IT and media industry." Epson’s inclusion of digital media card slots with the CX6400 means users can scan documents and save the resulting image files directly to memory cards, eliminating the need for their PC to be turned on to print these images in the future. Digital camera owners can also place their digital media cards in the CX6400’s built-in slots and instantly print their pictures without the need for a PC. The unveiling of Epson’s Stylus CX6400 follows the firm’s launch earlier this month of its new CX5400 MFD, which replaced the older Stylus CX5200.
