Dolphin Energy Limited today announced it has selected the mySAP business suite to handle the energy company’s expanding business and operational requirements. The integrated business solution expected to be installed over two years, will enable Dolphin to integrate its projects, corporate and operations management into one central Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This will ensure that the organisation efficiently coordinates such core business processes as financials, human resources, supply chain management, product life management, business intelligence and accounting. “We have selected mySAP because of its proven systems, its regional record in the energy industry and a competitive price,” says Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, CEO, Dolphin Energy. Dolphin Energy is owned 51% by the Mubadala Investment Company (on behalf of the Abu Dhabi government) and 24.5% each by Total of France and Occidental Petroleum of the USA. The company is currently working on the Dolphin Project, which involves the production and processing of natural gas from Qatar’s North Field and transportation of the dry gas by pipeline to the UAE, beginning in 2006. It recently opened a pipeline, which supplies the power and desalination plant on the UAE’s East Coast – initially with natural gas from Oman and Qatar. “Our company is developing at great speed and we therefore took the long-term strategic decision to invest in an ERP System, which will help us grow effectively – and which is flexible enough to grow with us,” adds Sayegh. Dolphin is expected to implement phase one of the SAP installation by the end of 2004, when financial, procurement and material management for Abu Dhabi and Doha operations will be activated. Phase two will start in 2005, covering plant operation in Ras Laffan and other requirements says the energy company. “We are delighted to have been chosen by Dolphin Energy to supply mySAP Business Suite. We are looking for a long-term partnership where Dolphin will benefit from the collaborative business environment of mySAP, plus our extensive experience in the energy sector,” says Essam Enany, president of SAP Arabia.
