Syriatel calls for Oracle

Oracle Middle East has announced that Syrian GSM provider Syriatel has selected Oracle's E-Business Suite 11i, which includes Oracle Financials and Oracle Purchasing to streamline its business processes.

Oracle Middle East has announced that Syrian GSM provider Syriatel has selected Oracle's E-Business Suite, which includes Oracle Financials and Oracle Purchasing to streamline its business processes. The three-year old operator, hopes to consolidate all its customer and partner related departments with the group’s key information into one central location. “Our objective is to enhance competitive advantage, and with Oracle E-Business Suite, all of Syriatel’s financial information will be consolidated and available in real-time, which makes us a more efficient, productive, and a owledge-based organisation,” says Nader Kalai, CEO, Syriatel. With more than 1,350 employees, Syriatel claims a subscriber base of 735,000 customers, representing 57% of the market share. “Syriatel was interested in reducing costs and maximising efficiencies to enhance performance and remain competitive in a fluctuating telecom market. Syriatel’s deployment of Oracle E-Business Suite software will improve productivity, increase information availability [besides] reduce administrative costs,” adds Husam Dajani, vice president of Oracle ME. Other regional mobile operators such as Batelco, Al Watanyah Telecom, OmanTel, and MobileCom have deployed similar solutions.
