Aptec introduces partners

New distribution agreements with IBM, Lexmark, Veritas and 3M have given Aptec Saudi Arabia plenty to talk about at Gitex today.

New distribution agreements with IBM, Lexmark, Veritas and 3M have given Aptec Saudi Arabia plenty to talk about at Gitex today as the company looks to boost its market share and sphere of influence within the Kingdom’s information technology market. The reseller, exhibiting at Gitex Saudi Arabia for the third year running, hopes to come out of this week’s event having used its latest signings to generate new business. But, aside from the hard sell, Aptec’s general manager in the Kingdom, Thierry Chamayou, says the exhibition gives him and his team a great chance to sit down and chat with existing customers and potential clients from around Saudi and the GCC. “The Saudi market is a very particular market, the way the Saudis work is you have to take the time to come and see them and that’s the whole reason we participate in Gitex,” says Chamayou. “We use the stand as a space to welcome our many customers, to sit with our customers, to spend some time with them, talk to them, understand them a bit more and to show them what we have to offer in terms of new products and the new vendors [we represent],” he adds. Aptec has ensured that as many as 20 staff are manning its two-storey stand at any one time, so that any show attendees can always find an Aptec employee to help them out. “We have a few more people on our stand this year than we did last year because we are holding so many more products. We are also holding our meetings on our stand becuase we have a space on the top were we can sit with our customers and potential customers, talk and close business,” explains Chamayou. Chamayou says last year’s show generated a lot of business for Aptec Saudi Arabia and he has high hopes for Gitex 2004. “The name of Gitex in Riyadh is very strong,” he says. “Essentially, at Gitex Saudi Arabia, you have good people coming to you, you have loads of good people stopping at the stand and asking questions. I think it is going in the right direction, having seen what can be achieved in Dubai, I have good hopes for Gitex Riyadh,” Chamayou adds.
