Nokia’s former director of e-learning is to appear as a keynote speaker at the e-Learning-Arabia.com conference in Dubai next month. Stefaan van Hooydonk was the driving force behind the mobile phone giant’s goal of introducing mobile learning and edu-gaming to users around the world. “Hooydonk was at the forefront of Nokia’s global e-learning strategy. He was responsible for setting direction, implementing strategy and ensuring that e-learning was integrated throughout the company’s training and development processes,” says Abdulqader al Khaja, CEO of knowledgenetwork (knet), the Dubai-based learning and training consultancy that is organising the conference. The theme of this year’s conference is Energising Business Performance, and Hooydonk, along with other speakers, will debate a number of issues with delegates, such as the most effective deployment of e-learning in the corporate world, aligning e-learning with business bottom-line, and the adaptation of online learning to different cultures. “Hooydonk will be able to demonstrate the application of cutting-edge technology so companies can improve performance, development and training,” adds al Khaja. More than 200 professionals from the region are expected to gather at the event to debate the latest online issues. Key to this year’s conference will be the integration of international and regional best practices. eLearning-Arabia.com will be held on April 27 and 28, is organised in association with Knowledge Village and forms part of Knowledge Month, which is designed to stimulate growth in the training and education sector.
