Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) has deployed the DekoCast solution from Pinnacle Systems to support its Star Academy Channel, which is currently being broadcast across the Middle East on the Arabsat network. DekoCast is being used to deliver SMS and chat information on screen, one of the first uses of the application in the region. “We needed a robust, cost effective device that would allow us to run live information direct to air, while also integrating with our existing environment,” commented Jihad Hachem, head of engineering projects, LBCI. “DekoCast has proved itself exceptionally reliable and is currently running 24 hours a day without a single hitch.” DekoCast is an advanced solution used for a wide range of master control, channel branding and localisation applications. For live updates, such as SMS chat, market prices or weather reports, DekoCast is used to handle video, audio, clips and graphics as well. “DekoCast is perfect for this type of interactive programme format,” commented Said Bacho, managing director, Middle East, Pinnacle Systems. “The installation at LBCI was straightforward as the network environment was already optimised for Pinnacle equipment. And as existing users of Deko equipment, training also wasn’t an issue for LBCI,” he added.
