Performance Systems, a new software consultancy, has partnered with Cognos to push Middle East customers from business intelligence point solutions towards the strategic deployment of corporate performance management (CPM) solutions.

Performance Systems, a new software consultancy, has partnered with Cognos to push Middle East customers from business intelligence point solutions towards the strategic deployment of corporate performance management (CPM) solutions. Ged Simmons, regional director UK, Ireland and Middle East at business intelligence software vendor Cognos, said: “Cognos’ business is growing fast in the Middle East. Business intelligence is now a strategic solution that allows customers to sweat their existing assets and link information from multiple internal ERP systems where necessary.” Performance Systems, part of Almasa Business Solutions, currently has 12 staff and links up with major management consultancies where necessary to supplement its offering. Guy Rickett, General Manager of Performance Systems said: “As a strategic Middle East partner of Cognos our world class team combines an unwavering commitment to the local market with a breadth and depth of industrial and technological experience. Regardless of our areas of individual focus, one thing is clear: we speak corporate performance management.” While major ERP vendors have built business intelligence capabilities into their offerings, Cognos and Performance Systems claim that these systems only satisfy the finance department. They argue that sales, marketing and human resources function have specialised requirements that demand an extra layer of software provision on top. Cognos already has some 65 clients in the GCC in major verticals such as oil and gas, financial services and government. It aims to take this total past the 100 mark during the next year. Simmons adds: “Business intelligence used to be a sale aimed squarely at the IT department. With CPM we’re able to go and talk to the business and finance executives within potential customers.”
