Wataniya launches Arabia Zone

Kuwaiti mobile operator Wataniya Telecom has launched the Arabia Zone content channel called Funtec, which offers Arabic content for mobiles within Kuwait. More than 10,000 downloads have been done by subscribers in the first week alone says the operator.

Kuwaiti mobile operator Wataniya Telecom has launched the Arabia Zone content channel called Funtec, which offers Arabic content for mobiles within Kuwait. Over 10,000 downloads have been done by subscribers in the first week alone says the operator. Featured under the Funtec area of Wataniya’s website (www.wataniya.com/funtec), Arabia Zone offers mobile entertainment content including ringtones, wallpapers, logos and pictures featuring famous Arab and international celebrities and musicians. The channel also offers a variety of logos, text and picture messages with a focus on the events, culture and music of Kuwait and the Middle East region. “With over 10,000 downloads of content this last weekend, we are definitely pleased with the Arabia Zone offering - greatly expanding the range of regional content and services available to all Wataniya customers” says Andrei Torriani, director of marketing and product development at Wataniya Telecom. To gain access to all these services, customers simply send an SMS with the appropriate content ID number to 1401 and the content is delivered to their mobile phone. Customers can also find out more information and service prices on the website or by dialing customer care on 121. Currently the operator serves more than 786,000 customers in Kuwait, which boasts of mobile access to 70% of the population. The company also has operations in Northern Iraq, Tunisia and Algeria.
