British event organiser Media Generation Exhibitions is hoping to attract IT and finance leaders from across the region to Bahrain this November for a new financial technology exhibition. The company is holding the first Middle East Financial Technology Exhibition & Conference (MEFTEC 2004) at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre between 23-24 November in what Media Generation claims will be the first such exhibition of its kind in the Middle East. The event will be aimed at senior to middle level executives and IT budget holders and aims to cover a broad range of financial IT solutions from retail banking systems to Islamic banking applications, IT security systems and e-banking. "MEFTEC provides an opportunity for financial services leaders to see the latest technologies at an event tailor-made to their requirements, without having to attend several worldwide generic events," said Paul Stott, project director, Media Generation Exhibitions. "This new event is the only pan-Middle East forum to explore, display and unveil next-generation banking and financial technologies." Media Generation claims that in the course of conducting market research top executives from banks and financial institutions told its staff the region needed its own specialised event focused on financial services. "We aim to ensure this is an event for the industry by the industry," said Stott. MEFTEC will be held in association with the Bahrain Convention & Exhibition Bureau and under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Governor of the Bahrain Monetary Agency.
