Storage giant EMC has extended its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) reseller relationship with IT provider Fujitsu Siemens Computer through to 2008. Under the terms of the deal, Fujitsu Siemens can resell the full portfolio of EMC networked storage systems and software across the region. EMC’s reseller relationship with Fujitsu Siemens started back in 1997. Fujitsu Siemens has also named EMC as its ‘Supplier of the Year’ for the second year in succession. The award recognizes partners that excel in quality, technology, logistics and purchasing. “EMC's technology, quality and internal processes provide Fujitsu Siemens Computers and its customers with industry leading storage solutions,” said Adrian v. Hammerstein, Fujitsu Siemens Computers' President and CEO. “EMC's networked storage systems and software are key components of our Business Critical Computing solutions, where we are outperforming our competitors. The extension underlines our commitment to work together at all levels, from engineering to sales and service, to develop new ways to make sure that our customers get the most value from their information.” Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers EMC's CLARiiON networked storage systems under the FibreCAT brand name and is also the largest reseller of EMC Symmetrix systems. Fujitsu Siemens Computers also offers EMC's Celerra file servers, Centera content addressed storage (CAS) solutions, Connectrix switches and EMC open software solutions. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is a member of the EMC Authorised Services Network. In addition, Fujitsu Siemens Computers sells LEGATO's full line of software for information access, availability and protection. Joe Tucci, EMC President and CEO, said, “The markets that Fujitsu Siemens Computers serves are among the fastest growing for EMC. The strategic relationship between EMC and Fujitsu Siemens Computers has played a key role in that growth. The combination of EMC networked storage systems and software with Fujitsu Siemens servers has provided mutual customers with end-to-end solutions to help them better manage their information throughout its lifecycle. The extension of our relationship will allow us to continue to help customers of all sizes solve some of their most pressing business problems.” This is not a traditional reseller relationship in the sense of a channel-to-market. Rather, it is two heavyweight IT companies ensuring that their product portfolios integrate seamlessly at a vendor level. The ability to partner at the vendor level allows EMC and Fujitsu Siemens to provide a more complete offering to large account customers and channel partners alike.
