Emirates is to launch a non-stop service to Melbourne on June 10th. The service will start as three times a week before doubling to six flights per week on August 1st. As the carrier will continue its seven weekly flights to Melbourne via Singapore as well, it will therefore have 13 flights a week to the city. “This is another big step in Emirates’ strategy for Australia. It reaffirms our airline’s dedication to our Australian customers and our determination to play a growing role in the country’s aviation market,” says His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Emirates Group. “A key objective of the increased services is to offer passengers from Victoria the choice of a non-stop service to Dubai and beyond, or a transit through Singapore,” he adds. EK will operate the 14 hour service using its Airbus A340-500 aircraft, which are also used on Emirates' services to Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
