RayaTech a computer telephony integration (CTI) vendor has announced the availability of iConnect.SMS, an advanced Arabised SMS platform for implementing mobile commerce services. It enables the integration of both personalised and directed SMS messaging with corporate information systems. According to RayaTech, personalised messaging ensures that customers feel known by their service provider as the customer profiles and preferences contained in customer information databases allow the service provider to personalise the SMS communications. The solution offers Arabic support including personalised Arabic messaging capabilities and Arabic application programming interfaces (API). The vendor is targeting customers such as hospitals for sending advance notification to patients of appointments, to the delivery of breaking news for news agencies. Templates for a variety of business applications including financial institutions, media and entertainment, utilities, airlines, logistics & transportation, health care and government amongst others are also available. “The applications for this solution can be used by banks to inform customers of ATM withdrawals or notification of salary credits as well as customers using it to enquire about their account balances, fund transfers and so on. Airlines can notify customers of flight delays or cancellations. Customers can enquire about flight arrival or departure times by just sending the specific flight number as an SMS message and receiving the details back. The applications can also be used by investment houses providing up to the minute stock prices, car rental agencies and the list goes on,” explains Mohammad Khatib, general manager of RayaTech. The solution allows up to 50 messages to be sent per second or 4.3 million messages per day with support for MMS and WAP. The solution utilises both push and pull technology. Push Technology allows messages to be sent one way to individuals, for example stock alerts, email alerts, reminders for events and appointments. It can either inform a customer of a new service or product or give pre-requested information. Pull Technology enables a two-way communication. It gives the subscriber the capability to send messages from a mobile device to a database and get information in return. SMS applications can act on any message received from a mobile phone and use it to generate another message as a reply, for example sales force automation – allowing the sales person to query on product availability & then update the database with the ordered quantity. Regional companies such as Dubai Islamic Bank, National Bank of Sharjah, Abu Dhabi Police, First Finance Company (Qatar) & the Department of Health and Medical Services have implemented the iConnect.SMS solution. Other features include SMS campaign definitions, dynamic data control, iLink: (integration with any corporate RDBMS) and detailed management reporting.
