Kuwaiti mobile operator Wataniya Telecom and Jordan’s MobileCom have signed an inter-working agreement which allow subscribers of both countries to exchange Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) across both networks. “We are delighted to offer our customers the opportunity to send MMS messages to their friends and loved ones in Jordan. Wataniya Telecom is committed to continue developing services that meet the needs of its customers while ensuring that its service partners offer the same quality and value to their customers,” says David Murray, CEO Wataniya Telecom. The four-year old Wataniya Telecom, which is the leading GSM mobile operator in the State of Kuwait also has operations in Northern Iraq, Tunisia and Algeria with more than 1.4 million customers. According to the new deal with MobileCom, users can now share multimedia data from their MMS-enabled phones across the networks. MMS is a messaging service for the mobile environment similar to Short Message Service (SMS), or text messaging. It provides delivery of personal multimedia messages from phone to phone or from phone to e-mail. In addition to text, users can also send messages which contain images, graphics, voice and audio clips. “We continue with that commitment today as we rollout new services to Jordanians and continue to bring further value to them, whether at home or abroad. Wataniya Telecom is the market leader in Kuwait and our partnership will ensure high quality service to our customers in Jordan and Kuwait,” says Ghossein, CEO of MobileCom. MobileCom is the provider of the mobile communications license granted to Jordan Telecom. The operator launched its services in the Hashemite Kingdom in September 2000.
