Tech Data unveils whizzy website

Distributor Tech Data has pulled out all the e-commerce stops with the latest incarnation of its Middle East website.

Tech Data has revamped its Middle East website ( to include a comprehensive business-to-business system that allows resellers to reduce the complexity of ordering product and the administration headache that often goes with it. The new site allows resellers to log in via the internet, check an order status, look up product information and even view their account. “Tech Data has been working hard to help our customers reduce their costs and streamline their businesses. In many cases, the technology reseller channel is looking at only a few dollars margin on many items, which means every second not spent hassling with administration is more time to be out with customers, providing services,” says Steve Lockie, Managing Director of Tech Data Middle East. Resellers also have access to an online Pricing Matrix giving them instant access on product prices based on volume ordered. The expanded range of web services also includes Tech Data’s Stock Availability information service and Shipment Tracking tools to keep an eye on the progress of orders. The new site is more in line with the look and feel of Tech Data’s international website and marks another step forward in the development of efficient distribution structures in the Middle East. As always though, the proof is in the pudding, and it will be interesting to see just how many of Tech Data’s resellers make use of the online tools and how many cling to the tried and tested method of phoning up and haggling with their distributors.
