ADWEA automates meter reading

ADWEA has automated the electric and water meter reading process of ADDC and AADC by rolling out handheld devices to its staff.

Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has automated the electric and water meter reading process of Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) by rolling out handheld devices from Emirates Computers to its staff and implementing software from Data Capture Systems. The solution, which took four months to implement, replaces ADWEA’s manual system of handwriting meter readings and physically entering them into the billing system. As a result, meter reading has been optimised and greater transparency forced upon the process, thereby enabling more accurate meter readings and on-the-spot bill preparation. “As an organisation that provides a crucial service to a large number of people, we felt the need to streamline our operations to offer our customers quality service, while minimising internal workload. Automation of the meter reading procedures at Al Ain has helped us service our customers better by speeding up processes in an organised and structured manner,” says Mohammed Al Shamsi, sales manager for AADC, ADWEA. “We are pleased with the implementation of the new solution, which has dramatically changed the way we service our customers. For ADDC, this a step forward in providing user friendly and time-saving work processes to our employees, while ensuring that our customers receive transparent, error-free bills,” adds Ahmed Al Mazroui, sales manager for ADDC, ADWEA.
