UK-based independent broadcast systems integrator Television Systems Limited (TSL) has announced that it has won a significant contract from VTR Beirut to design the latter’s high-end post production facility. TSL will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, equipment staging, onsite technical installation and set-up of VTR Beirut. The post production facility will occupy 1,500 square metres in the centre of Beirut and is being built in response to demand for international standard post production services across the Middle East and North Africa. "VTR Beirut will completely transform the regional post and production industries by offering unparalleled services, consisting of the newest tools and award-winning technology to improve the overall quality while greatly reducing costs for producers who will no longer have to travel to Europe or Asia to carry out their post work," commented marketing manager Claude Mallick Rizk. "We needed a quality installation for VTR Beirut so we turned to TSL who has previously delivered a high standard of systems integration on time and budget for us in London," commented VTR group’s technical director Bob Parsons, who is overseeing the technical installation in Beirut added. This is the largest single post production contract that TSL has won so far. It includes the installation of some of the world's best post production technology with film transfer and colour grading on a Spirit DataCine from Thomson Grass Valley and online finishing in HD and 601 on Discreet's Smoke. Film, HD and 601 compositing and special effects will be conducted on Discreet's Inferno, Flame and Combustion. “This project will transform post production in the region," commented Lionel Matthews, proposals manager with TSL.
