EVS Broadcast will be celebrating its tenth anniversary next week. With a decade of experience in the market, the broadcast solutions provider, which has so far focused extensively on live sports production solutions, is aggressively promoting its MPEG-2 video server systems and HD solutions at Cabsat 2004. “Sports is still our core business,” says Marcel Groos, product marketing manager for EVS Broadcast Equipment. “Our live slow motion (LSM) system is what has enabled EVS to become a company and grow as a business. And we will continue to remain loyal to the sports business, but we have felt the need to diversify to other areas as well,” he added. The new EVS MPEG-2 video servers support a wide range of software packages, together forming complete DTV solutions: Multi-site contribution, multi-channel automated play-out (optional NVOD) and Mosaics for Barker channels. Direct ASI inputs and outputs and integrated DVB (De-) Multiplexing guarantee perfect quality integrity from which also the DPI local Insertion system benefits. At a seminar this evening that will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Groos will also present a paper where he will share his vision about sports broadcast solutions with technical engineers and support staff who are mainly involved in designing OB vans. “The paper will be about the overall application of the system. I intend to share with clients the standard applications of these machines and how they can be networked. It will be a combination of technology as well as information on its installation within a practical environment,” added Groos.
