GAC has launched a new alliance with South America’s Ultramar Group, as it looks to complete a global network of ship agency alliances. The deal with Ultramar Group, which began on 1 February, provides ship agency services in ports in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. The Ultramar deal is the latest in a series of alliances agreed over the last 12 months that have given GAC support in countries around the world. Among the other companies signed up as partners by the shipping and logistics giant are Adsteam (Australia, New Zealand & Oceania), Unipros (Republic of Korea), Kudrat Maritime (Malaysia), RUR (USA East & Gulf Coasts) and Wilford & McKay (Panama). “We had considerable success in 2003 finding the right partners to extend our global reach,” says Lars Heisselberg, group vice president, GAC Shipping Division. “In the coming year we aim to complete our coverage of the Americas and Japan, followed by Africa and Europe.
