Tech Data boosted its Cisco sales 40% year-on-year in the Middle East during 2003 according to Dorian Breakspear-Coyle, Cisco business unit manager at Tech Data. “The number of resellers we supply has been steadily rising,” says Breakspear-Coyle. As well as supplying Cisco's two tier channel partners, Tech Data also acts as a fulfillment house providing product for direct Cisco partners. Tech Data's purchase of Azlan has given it access to unprecedented levels of Cisco stock. “We now have access to US$75m worth of Cisco product in the UK with lead times as little as 10 days,” adds Breakspear-Coyle. Tech Data plans a string of further initiatives in 2004 including the ability for resellers to check stock levels and track orders through its website. “We are keen to share our Cisco expertise with resellers,” concludes Breakspear-Coyle, “This can be logistics expertise, pre-sales or post-sales support, as well as training programmes.”
