Qatar Airways is set to launch flights to four new destinations this year, including Afghanistan's capital, Kabul. The other three new routes are Luxor, Istanbul and Zurich. The services to Luxor in Egypt and Istanbul in Turkey will begin in June, with Zurich coming online in the following month. Flights to Kabul will start in November. The new destinations were announced at a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the airline. “A lot has changed at Qatar Airways. The airline that was first launched is a very different airline to the one that now reaches into the skies,” say Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways. “If you had told me then that in 2004 we would have 29 aircraft in our fleet, and be flying to 48 destinations, I would not have believed you. If you had told me that by 2008 we would have a fleet of 52 aircraft, servicing more than 60 international destinations, I would have thought that rather over-ambitious,” he adds. “But today, I see those dreams come true. Qatar Airways is of one of the fastest growing airlines in the world today,” he pointed out.
