French tourists top spenders in Oman

French tourists have been rated the highest spenders in Oman during 2002, according to figures released by consultancy firm IDI.

French tourists have been rated the highest spenders in Oman during 2002. According to International Development Ireland, an emerging markets consultancy employed by the Directorate General of Tourism, Oman, the average spending of French tourist was around Omani Rial (OR) 501 (approx US$ 1300). There were around 2,289 French tourist arrivals in Oman during 2002. In comparison though 665,314 UAE residents visited Oman during the same year, they spent only around OR 57 per person (US$ 148). Meanwhile 22724 visitors from the UK spent around OR 203 (US$ 527) per head, 11035 Germans spent OR 366 (US$ 950) and the Dutch spent OR 475 (US$ 1233). Average spend for 8746 visitors from India was OR 45 (US$ 116) per person.
