Translating as a good deal

Internet users in Palestine are set to gain access to new translation tools, courtesy of a deal between Jawwal and Sakhr Software.

Sakhr Software and Palestinian mobile telecommunications company Jawwal have agreed a deal to use Sakhr tools as part of the services offered to Jawwal clients in Palestine. Jawwal will use Sakhr’s Tarjim, its machine translation program available at The tools provided include online translation capabilities including text, website & SMS messages. The online translation services include word, text and website translation from English to Arabic, as well as online translation of SMS messages to and from both Arabic and English. The agreement which was signed by Hakam Kanafani, CEO of Jawwal, and Salah Malaeb, general manager of Sakhr. “We are very pleased to work hand-in-hand with Sakhr, the Arabic software giant, so that we may benefit from its advanced technologies,” said Hakam Kanafani. “And because our company continually strives towards offering the best services to the largest segment possible of our people, we have chosen Sakhr to offer the online translation service to our clients.” Salah Malaeb added, “The online translation service is highly successful in most Arab countries, and it gives us great pleasure to provide this service to users in Palestine through the Palestinian telecommunications company, thus assisting Jawwal in giving their clients the best services”.
