Kuwait Airways has inked an agreement with Mercator, the Emirates Group’s information technology division, for its airline reservation system. Called MARS, the solution will help the regional airline boost customer service levels and significantly cut reservations costs. It will also provide Kuwait Airways with features such as advanced booking management, schedule and seat inventory control, fare formulation and ticketing capabilities. In addition to deploying MARS, Kuwait Airways has also opted for Mercator’s MACS airport control system. The aviation specific solution will allow the Kuwaiti operator to check in passengers swiftly and manage pre-takeoff baggage handling more efficiently. It will also streamline a whole range of airport procedures for Kuwait Airways, thereby improving employee productivity. “We’re committed to giving our travellers the best and most convenient service in the skies and by using MARS and MACS we expect to see big improvements, transforming the way we deal with our customers and providing firm foundations for our future success,” says Ahmed Al Zibin, Kuwait Airways’ chairman. “We are delighted to welcome Kuwait Airways to the Mercator family. Implementation has started already, and passengers should soon start to see the benefits,” adds Joshua Koshy, Mercator’s senior vice president for IT.
