The development of strategic leadership in IT management will be the focus of a two-day workshop to be held in Dubai’s Knowledge Village next month. The workshop, organised by the India Knowledge Centre (IKC) in association with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), will focus on the strategic challenges facing IT companies. Speakers will explore the key managerial issues that IT companies face and help participants learn how to successfully manage a growing IT organisation. The workshop, which is aimed at CEOs, business leaders, senior divisional executives and strategists of IT companies, will attempt to define successful strategies for both small and large IT companies. “In a small IT firm, an initial growth trajectory must be created, and then the IT firm adapts its strategies to the requirements of the larger-scale operation. By contrast, a larger, more established IT firm must sustain growth through revitalising current businesses, or possibly by expanding into new areas,” says an IKC spokesman. Visiting scholar, Professor Dr Raghunath, Professor of corporate strategy and policy at IIM, will conduct the programme. Currently involved in research, teaching and consulting in the areas of corporate re-positioning in the context of increasing competition in the current business scenario, formulating and implementing business strategy in IT and network-based organisations. Dr Raghunath is a registered consultant with the Office of Projects Services, UNDP, New York. The event will be held on February 8 and 9 and costs US$750 per delegate with discounts for groups.
